Do you use your inhaler before you walk? If the walking bothers you, you might enjoy weight training. The stronger your muscles become the more calories they burn at rest.

Well, don't walk fast. :) With asthma, you've got to take it easy. I've heard the slower you walk the better. :)

You don't have to play sports to lose weight either. Try cutting back on your sugar intake. I lost a good 10-15 lbs just by drinking water. Watch what you eat, then do some slow walking (don't walk so fast that you get short of breath). This will help burn off calories. Also, riding a bike probably wouldn't be so hard on your lungs. I never got short of breath from riding bikes when I was younger (I had asthma pretty bad when I was a child.)

Another good thing is to not park so close to the entrances of buildings. Any extra amount of walking you can perform will help burn more calories. :)

My cousin is a severe asthmatic.....since birth and now he's in his late 20's. This past year for a broken back the Dr's had him go to physical therapy 3 days a week......he has now found a program that he can do physically and not pass out....or wind up in the ER. He also has lost almost 100 lbs. Talk to your lung dr. and see if they will recommend a place for you to do therapy.....at least it's a monitored setting....in case you would need help.

Yes, take a whiff of the inhaler before you go out. That should help. If not, you need more gentle exercise, which means you will need to spend more time at it. So walk slower, but go the same distance you did before. That's pretty much the best you can do.
