Sounds like your dog is untrained. A dog without training is like a human toddler who's never been taught anything. Does your dog have chew toys of his own (not old shoes - giving a dog old shoes to chew just teaches him to chew shoes. He can't tell the difference between new shoes and old shoes).
Dogs like to chew -- when he chews on something you don't want him to, interrupt him with a sharp word (like "No!" or "Uh-uh!"), take away the thing you don't want him to chew on and give him something you do, like a toy. Praise him when he chews on that.
If he's a young dog, he may still be teething - there are teething rings that go in the freezer (check a pet store) or just take an old washcloth, tie a knot in the middle, soak it in water, and freeze it. Chewing the frozen washcloth helps with teething pain.
Biting - is he play nipping, or seriously attacking you? Makes a difference in how you handle it. What you need is a good (positive reinforcement) training class, where you learn how to teach your dog, and your dog learns that you are in charge.
I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt here - surely you're joking about selling your dog and getting a laptop instead. If you're serious, then it's your responsibility to find a loving, safe and supportive home for your dog - you made yourself responsible for him, so you owe him, either the training he needs to succeed in living with you, or a new home where he'll be appreciated and loved.

If you really don't like the dog that much and would prefer a laptop then why did you get the pup in the first place?
But the problem is as stands. You have a dog that had obviously no training. This can be solved if you're willing to work on training. Look though the phone book or talk to your vet or a reputable pet store to find a training facility that is knowledgeable. More often than not you'll be able to have to dog doing complicated tricks within a year. But it takes time and patience ad usually money and treats. If you're not willing to do this then either deal with the pup eating your shoes and attacking you, or give him to a good home. No one in their right mind will buy a pup off an owner if it has no training. Especially for the money that you're obviously expecting to receive for it. Good luck and please consider the training.

If you could just get rid of him just like that and get a computer I think you would be doing the dog a favor! He deserves better than that. You should be taking the time to train the poor thing so he knows right from wrong. You are making a big mistake, what can a computer give you??? That dog bites you and eats shoes probably because you give him no attention. You should never have gotten a puppy in the first place!

No. Don't get rid of your dog. Invest in some training for your dog. Sounds like he lacks ANY training at all and thus there's no boundaries or anything for him. He probably doesn't even know what he's doing is wrong.
Your view towards the situation is very immature. Pets are not disposeable items to be 'traded' for some other material possession when you tire of them. Pets are a lifelong responsibility, essentially a contract, which you agreed to when you took that animal into your possession and care. You are that dogs' 'parent'. The fact that you want to 'get rid of him' and 'trade him' to get a laptop suggests you don't really care about the dog in the first place---so no wonder he bites you.

If you think a computer is better than your dog... Yes, find a better home for him!!
Dogs require diligent training as puppies and if you see this as a bother, you should not have dog.
Why did you get the dog in the first place if you weren't willing to put the time into training him?

I believe that you would be doing a terribly cruel thing to this dog if you keep him. You obviously have no love for him, no idea of how to train him, and I believe you'd be much better off with a laptop rather than a living, breathing animal that you don't deserve.
Please find this dog a good home so he can live out his life with someone who will love him and look after him.

If you do not feel strongly enough about your dog to get him some training and you are thinking of choosing a laptop over him, then yes you should give him away to someone who can care for him& train him properly.

Definately, when an owner would RATHER trade in they're pet for something else it means they shouldn't have gotten the pet in the first place. You should sell him but make sure it's to a person that will love him and have patience with him... not to the peson that pays THE MOST!. Good luck

I wonder if your parents can sell you and get maybe new shows and an outfit for what they could get for you.
You are only adding proof why there should be a licensing process for having a dog or any other animal. It is truly disappointing and disheartening to see such a post. I feel bad for your dog (soon to be a laptop).

You shouldn't get rid of a dog because you haven't trained him well. A dog should be part of your family. My dogs are spoiled. I had trouble training my Chow Chow Kodi, so I got professional help. She is now well behaved and very lovable (although still a little hyper).
