There are different types of guys obviously. You picked one that doesn't really get into the whole "communication thing". You however, would very much enjoy latenight chats about anyting and everything. (it's in your nature as well as your genetic make-up. No worries)
So...express to your man how important talks and bonding are to you and suggest late night talks as an intimate way to "get to know you" better. He'll be in a more comfortable, relaxed frame of mind by that time of the day and perhaps you'll learn a little more about one another. Good luck.

If he loves you then there may be a few reasons (and by the way how can you tell he loves you????)

Either a previous girlfriend has berated him for hounding her too much OR he don't like you as much as you think... OR he has a healthy balance in his life? Depends on how little he rings, less than 3 times a week would seem odd to me because then he must obviously SEE you less than he calls you!

Well, not all guys like to talk over the phone. There are a few, that don't seem to mind, but like I said its only a "few." Guys are a different breed they are not like us, they don't talk so much on the phone, just say what they need to say and get off the phone, they don't like talking during the game (football, basketball, etc.)
Guys are guys and you just have to accept whatever kind of guy that you have, he will talk when he is ready.

Many guys can be this way... some don't like to "talk" and tend to use the phone to convey information. Guys need their space. Check out "Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus" ...it talks about how men will "retreat to their caves" and pretty much want some time alone to work out what's stressing them, whereas women tend to want to talk/vent.

A mature man doesn't need to constantly call the one he loves. He has a life apart from his girlfriend be it school or work. I say good for him. You should appreciate it and find other things to do too.

If he's anything like me, he probably hates talking on the phone. I know I do. That's the only reason for me.
