it was enya for me. her voice and songs are wonderful and her stuff always did and does relax me. i would say listen to something that calms you now, when you go in. what i mean is when you are having a really crappy day what is the one group or person or mix c.d that you put on to help melt the troubles away. that would be the c.d i would bring with me. hope it helps

Sting -
Listened to some Sting during all three labors. When my third was born at home, I was alternating between laughing and crying as I started pushing because "We'll Be Together Tonight" was on and it was just too perfect!

Beautiful Boy - by John Lennon
Carnival of the Animals - specifically the Aquarium section for my 2 waterbirths
With Arms Wide Open - by Creed
Rhapsody in Blue by Gershwin

Machines and my son's heartbeat.

We had bluegrass on until the nurse said it gave her a headache. I wanted to slap her--was she in intense pain? Yeah--I was in labor of 24 hours before they decided on a c-section. I was very upset with that nurse, to say the least.

we had every intention of listening to Ronan Keating as we were married with his music in the background....but with all the commotion we never took the cd out of the bag...and to be honest we didn't even notice until a few days later.

The Mozart Effect Cd - very soothing. I also had my husband play it when he gave me massages when I was pregnant. There are also studies that say when it's played outside the womb for the baby that is helps their brain develop.

With my oldest we had Miles Davis and Jimmy Buffet going. And with my youngest we performed on Gary Jules track. whilst the contractions began getting hard i did no longer % the track on. It became too plenty a distraction. by utilising the tip of the Gary Jules track i became yelling at my husband to coach off the effing track. So interior the tip the track ended up ticking me off and that i do no longer think of it became the track determination.

I know this is weird, but when I was in labor with my girls, (both of them) I watched wienie the pooh, and wheel of fortune. I hope when I am in labor again this time, I get the same shows again. They helped the time pass. Also the first time I nursed, with both of my kids, I watched "old school" wienie the pooh.
