Hi Kathy...there are two approaches you could consider:
1) purchase some Bitter Apple (http://shop.heimtier-center.de/popup_image.php/pID/555) spray from any pet store to apply to wires. The bitter taste usually is enough to stop the undesired behaviours and works for wires up above the ground.
2) consider using plastic wire looms to hide all your electrical wires within the loom. Not only it makes it difficult for your kitten to chew the cords through this loom, but tidies up the clusters of wires as well. Example of an inexpensive loom product: http://www.action-electronics.com/loom.htm
Both which makes it easy so you would not have to be around to supervise her indiscretions.
Alternatively you need to give them toys with similar textures to chew on to redirect their undesired behaviours while securing your wires with the other two suggestions.

Please don't be mad at your furry friend. Cats chew on things for a couple of reasons, teething, but mostly because they are bored. Cats can be somewhat like children in the case where you have to cat-proof you house. Keeps things put in drawers or closets where the kitty cannot find these objects of attention. They're just curious. Like children. One way you can cover your electrical cords with special tubings available in electrical supply stores. Such tubings are made of "teeth proof' materials that will prevent access to the cords. "Critter cord" or "Chew Safe" may be some products of interest. Bored cats should be provided with entertainment. Invest in safe cat toys and purchase a cat tree. The more occupied the cat, the less bored it will be, thereforethe less like to chew from boredome. Small kittens just as puppies and human toddlers tend to explore the world around them through their mouths.

Cats are very difficult to deal with. They don't like being trained.
Cats are chewing on cords because they are bored and want to hunt. It's probably the same reason that some humans like to chew on pen caps.
You can use a few methods to try and stop them:
- Coat the electric cords with something not tasty like a thin layer of petroleum jelly or a similar strong-smelling substance .
- Make sure you discipline them properly when you see them do it. Have a spray bottle to mist them gently with water whenever you see them do it.
- Give them other stuff to chew and play on. Go buy some toys from the pet store for this.

You've already been told why; they're bored. Get cat toys for them to chew on (ones infused with catnip would be wonderful since they'll really want to chew on 'em). Spray them with water when you catch them chewing, and spray the cords with bitter apple spray (found ours at a grocery store in the cat food aisle....but PetSmart, Petco, Pet's Plus, Soldan's....all of them sell it).

You can put your cords in a rubber tube for their safety. You are going to have a dead cat or cats, if you don't do something. You can also buy a spray at the pet stores that taste bitter and may keep them from chewing....but I still recommend rubber tubing.

I'd suggest you get those twist wires or something like that and tie up the cords. Your cats won't stop just because you tell them to, you're going to have to find a way to prevent this yourself.

go to the pet store and buy some spray that cats don't like. i don't know what the name of it is. you really don't wont them to chew completely through. that would not have a good outcome. good luck!

They are bored. Get a squirt bottle of water, and fire it at them whenever they even look like they are going to chew on it, otherwise one of them is going to get a nasty (an probably fatal) shock.
