I'm not sure if it is okay to ask "What's your name" then tell that person (inside your classroom) your name then ask their personal background then eventually small talk on the 1st day you met them in school. Is that okay? I know I will need to greet them everyday. What is your first words to a person you want to be friends with in school? I want to make more friends.

Hey, Tanner!! :)

It's fine to ask a person's name. Don't ask too much about their personal background the first time you talk, you are right that it might be seen as "nosey."

Ask them if they are taking the class because it is a required, or do they think they are really going to like it. You can ask what they know about the teacher. You can ask what their favorite classes or teachers are so far. You see? You keep your questions impersonal for the first little while.

After you've met a few classes and talked a couple of times, you can ask more personal (and interesting) questions. Start off with easy stuff, like do you ride the bus, and graduate to where is your house, and would you give me your phone number in case I have questions about this class? After that, I think you will be pretty good to go.

Luck to ya, Tanner!!

If I wanted to make friends with a new person I would go up to them and if u have them in one of your classes ask them something about what u are doing in class and then start off with a comment. From there u can probably go on and start a small conversation.

Actually that probably is the best way to make new friends and especially the first time you meet them. But you dont want to make them feel uncomfortable by asking too many personal questions unless they are cool with it. Some people are but generally people dont like to get too personal with people they dont know. Its a gradual process.

Usually when you meet someone you say hello and introduce yourself and they will usually do the same and then you ask each other questions to get to know each other. So what you are doing is ok. Just try not to be too nosey the first day.

You can if you want I remember on my first days I don't say nothing I usually sit back and watch everyone to see how they are. But for me they always start a conversation with me anyway.
