I saw a middle-aged paunchy guy chase another guy down the street today. Why? -- To return a dropped umbrella.
Nineteen out of twenty people you meet would do the very same thing. I will never believe the godders when they claim that the natural state of humanity is depravity. I say most people are naturally decent.

Basically not good ( won't go as far as saying evil). God says in the bible, there is none that doeth good, no not one. He talks about the old nature which rejects discipline. Think of Adam and Eve, they were given a perfect situation and yet, when tempted they did not do the right thing but exactly the one thing that God asked them not to do. Also, think of babies or small children. What is probably one of the first words they start to say. NO! If you do not discipline a child, they will not naturally grow up to be wonderful adults. I'm not saying people are evil, but down deep, if pushed against shove, most people's bad side will come out.

I think people are naturally selfish. This doesn't necessarily equate good or evil. And in many cases, good and evil are matters of perception.
Selfish could mean that they would rather protect their home and family rather than something truly altruistic like someone else's family and home. This is not an evil thing, but it may be evil to the someone else.
And if we get into evolutionary psychology, then it is a natural behavior to protect your offspring to prolong your genetic lineage.

You cannot ask me a question and then limit my answers to only 2 wrong answers. It is like asking: Is 1+1 equal to 3 or 4? Phrased like this it may seems as though good and evil are opposites. They are only 2 sides of the same coin.

I don't believe in good or evil. People are the way they are. Some people try to fit themselves within society's definition of "good" while others don't bother. Still others reject the common definition of "good" and strive to be the opposite just for the sake of nonconformity.

Good.
Society has progressed far from when the first tribes of humans formed.
If humans were naturaly evil we will still be scraping in the dirt to survive.

Essentially *valuable*, but naturally inclined toward evil.
I think our bent toward evil is most evidenced in that it's not enough to have doors, we must have locks to keep thieves out. It's not enough to have laws, we must have police to enforce them. It's not enough to simply make a promise, but we require written contracts of one another to secure some confidence, because obviously faith in notions of "human good" are ...well...lacking. :P

I think people are naturally neutral when they are born. Its when people are influenced by others that they begin to be good or bad.
