Gasoline and a match. :-) j/k Good question. We all have junk piles or disorganized pockets at home. The key it separate your stuff into high level categories of things and where you use them. For example, put all your sport & exercise stuff in the left side of your closet. Put your school materials and books at or around your desk. Eventually you can start to organize each pocket or group of stuff further - e.g. class books always on the shelf closest to the top of the desk or where you can easily reach them from your chair and etc. The idea is to work your way into having more discipline to organize your things. It's like excercising. You slowly work yourself into a routine - increasing the level of work as you progress. You don't automatically start lifting heavy weights. :-)

I hope this helps.

p.s. Do the same thing with your paper piles. If you have a habit of tossing stuff around, just make sure to toss stuff in a like pile.

I wouldn't shove things under my bed because there will be dust build up and sometimes even small bugs crawling in the stuff. Everyday, when you wake up or go to bedd, or whenever you have some free time, organize some things. Even if you only have 5 minutes, start small. You will never get anywhere if you sit and stare at the whole room wondering how you will clean it in under half an hour. It may take a long time, but time will be worth it. When you have clothes, don't put them on the floor. Put them in the pamper or laundry basket right away, or as soon as possible. If you have any extra papers or assignments lying around, pick those up, straighten them, put them into neat piles, buy folders or stacking trays to help you keep organized and prepared. Use binders for loose paper. Vaccum your carpet, or have your parent's vaccum your carpet once a week, or more if needed. Make your bed. Hang or fold your clothes. Keep already worn socks and underwear off the floor and bed. Don't eat in your room. Crumbs will create a dirty build-up, and sometimes will draw critters to your room and that's just gross and unhealthy. Get rid of small junk you don't need, or at least organize them. Buy one of those plastice see-through storages with wheels on the bottom and different drawer compartments. They work great for storing extra stuff.

Get three large trash bags (or boxes). In one put things to throw away. In another put things to keep, and in the other put things to give away (or sell at a yard sale). Anything that is lying around must go in one of the 3 bags or boxes. Throw or give away as much as possible--be brutal!

You don't have to do this all in one day. You can set aside a short amount of time each day to this task (as long as anything new that comes into the room gets sorted) until you are finished. Obviously you need to keep some clothes and a few other items handy while you are working.

When you are finished (be sure to throw the trash away and get rid of the other bag), look for ways to better store and organize your "stuff." For example, can you add shelves? Can you store things in bins in your closet or under your bed. Make a plan for where all the stuff in your "to keep" bag(s) will go and then spend time sorting.

When you are finished organizing your stuff, set aside a few minutes each day to sort and clean your room so that it doesn't just become a mess again.

Take on one task at a time.
Cleaning a room CAN be fun if you have music playing and think of it as something you have to do for yourself and not as a chore.
Start off with the floor, picking up and wrappers & trash, picking up clothes and placing them in the hamper or on hangers or in a dresser drawer.
Take a trash bag for any give-away you may come across, always use lemon pledge to clean off the wood and windex for any mirrors and windows.

Tackle one section at a time (from experience-I always had the messiest room you've ever seen). If needed, do it over a few days. Don't spend a lot of time going through & reminiscing, but do get rid of stuff you haven't touched in months. Good luck!

Deep clean it and take as long as it takes........once you get it clean the dont let it get so messy. Do simple things like pick up your clothes or take the dishes out, ya know try to sweep or vacuum a lil bit.

basically could use motivation! chop up your room up into "zones" case in point Zone a million - Closet Zone 2 - mattress Zone 3 - Dressers Zone 4 - floor Zone 5 - something left over daily spend quarter-hour in a single zone case in point monday is zone a million tuesday zone 2 and so on... slowly sparkling the zones...the mess didnt happen in a million day...it isnt going to get wiped sparkling in a million the two!

It is easier to keep it clean, once you get it cleaned up, than to clean it once a year.
Straighten up your room every day. Take your garbage out every day. Take your dirty laundry out every day. Have a place for everything and keep everything in its place.
