Thank you for asking this question. I can't ask questions on Blog. My yahoo keeps giving me an error message.
Diarmid O'Murchu's basic premise is that we are all innately spiritual and that mystical experiences are our birthright. I have always had mystical or transcendent experiences, long before I belonged to any religion. So, yes, and you don't have to be a Christian to have spiritual or mystical experiences.

I knew someone who had many mystical experiences and she was put into a state hospital for a long, long time. These experiences do happen to people who have mental defects or who believe in them with so much fervor that they think they are real. Also if they are on some stuff that snuffs the brain. No way, Jose. If you have one immediately take an Ativan and relax. It will go away. We still have at least a thousand years to go before we become total human beings.

I don't think so. I would attribute any "mystical experience" to something logical, like a hallucination or me just not getting enough sleep, however, someone who actually believe in mystic events, would take anything they experience to mean something more.

It is only a mystical experience because we have defined it as so.

I belief so. People are going to interpret them according to their beliefs, and in some cases they will no longer be mystical experiences.

Absolutely. The bad guys (demons) would love to attract someone to themselves before he finds out the truth about God.

Absolutely. I am Roman Catholic (don't hold it against me) and I have expiriences that my religion just can't explain to me. Things happen.
