It just seems hypocritical for the pope to try and interfere with gods plan if god wants someone to shoot him in the face. Just like taking birth control.

The Pope knows that if God wants him to die then he will die.
The Pope shows good common sense about the crazy or evil human beings who do not follow God's will.

The pope is a man, just like anyone else, but one who has risen up in the ranks of the Catholic chruch high enough. God isn't going to fly down and stop someone from killing him. The Pope is a TARGET for terrorists around the world and he is a spiritual religious leader. Plently of people would like to kill him so therefore, he got himself a bulletproof car. Also, if God wants the Pope to get shot in the face, as you so put it, do you reallllly think that bullet proof glass is going to stop GOD????

Sometimes man's needs are greater than god's. And the pope being shot in the face doesn't serve man's needs.
And birth control shouldn't matter. Not even the hardcore fundies can rationally believe that an egg cell is a human life.

The Pope and his security force are realistic enough to know that not everyone follows the Golden Rule. They also know that a host of angels will not magically appear to stop an assassin's bullets, poisonous gas, or bits of shrapnel from a bomb.
I see where you're going, and I agree. But, please, don't discourage people of faith from choosing birth control by saying that it shows lack of faith. Humanity needs to accept responsibility for our out-of-control population.

If the Pope was shot that does not mean it is Gods plan. maybe Gods plan is to have the bullet proof car because Satans plan is to kill him.
