all support Amnesty why is it that people STILL believe the idea of "Round'em up and deport them all" mentality? Are people really that blinded by reality that think thats really going to happen?
Ted Kennedy(doesnt get any far left that) supports Amnesty.
George Bush supports Amnesty
Hillary Clinton supports Amnesty
Arnold Z. supports Amnesty
Rick Perry supports Amnesty
John Mckain supports Amnesty
Bill Richardson supports Amnesty
etc. etc. etc. And I wont even go on the Big American Coprporations that support Amnesty that are the financial backbone of this country.
Yes you have your Pat Buchannan, and Lou Dobbs, Sean Hannity people but they arent law makers like the people I just mentioned. They are just there to balance the views of American people.
For all you Anti's I suggest you just throw the towel and get real here. This country wants them here so they are going to stay here.

coragryph, stop spinning your mind. The word amnesty is the same word you and I know here. The word pardon is a different word. The term "crime enforcement is a total different meaning. Your bs stops here. If you are trying to dress up your anti-immigration point of view grow some and just come out clean. Too much run around here with your anwsers.

Uncle Sam, the only thing you have to worry here is the opinions of the law makers because guess what?
These people are making the laws not you.

Hey Jim, this type of mentality would just ignite more hatred towards America than it already has. Im sure America doesnt need that. Law makers are smart and therefore deporting babies along with mothers is not going to happen. If they were to become legal you wold be ok with it right? Amnesty makes them legal.

Bushler supports amnesty cause he needs to show a democratic face but when it comes to reality, he shows a "tap your phone and e-mail and search your house without warrant" face.

I could care less of what the Americans think and want, We are talking about what the United States public wants. The United States public do not want to give illegals amnesty.
You are correct in saying:
"the only thing you have to worry here is the opinions of the law makers because guess what? These people are making the laws not you."
But one thing you forget is that we vote them in office and if they want to give amnesty to 11 million people and not enforce the laws and force this on the public of the US. Then they will not have a job next go around.
Get Legal or get the hell out is all we are saying. I lived here all my life and I have never been able to get away with anything and I have never been given any spacial treatment. We have enough groups getting extras that I can not have but I have to pay for. I would rather spend that money to deport 11 million people then to spend it on babies being born at my expense to hold the law breakers in my country. The baby after being born and the mother stable should be deported at the same time. The dad should already be deported so he can be finding a job in mexico to support his family that the US gov will be droping at the border for him to pick up.

Because they are pandering for votes from the Mexicans. But they have forgotten the number 1 rule. When it all boils down to it the people that vote decide who stays in office and who doesn't The politicians work for the people and when the people get upset enough you will hear them change their tunes. They will say and do anything for votes.Lie,cheat and commit voting fraud . It takes awhile to get it thru the politicians thick heads but the do get it eventually. To stay in office they must vote the will of the people and trust me theses maggots want to keep their jobs.So the will of the people will prevail.it just takes time ,but they will not over rule the majority of Americans. You don't know American politics or the politicians.

Actually President Bush is moving away from Amnesty due to the outcry of the American people. The House and Senate have been bombarded by anti-illegals. I will not throw in the towel. It ain't over till its over.

Saying "amnesty" is like saying "crime enforcement".
It's an incredibly broad term, and can be applied in so many different ways with so many different limits and lines in the actual law, that hand-waiving and saying they all support amnesty is meaningless.
If one person is pardoned, that could be called supporting amnesty. If 10 million criminals are allowed of the hook with no penalty, that is also amnesty. So, the statement is meaningless becuase it doesn't say who they think should get amnesty.
{EDIT}
So, you see no difference between saying "anyone here 20+ years with citizen family here gets amnesty" and "anyone here 2+ years with no criminal record gets amnesty" and "anyone here with family gets amnesty, regardless" -- all of those are the same to you? Because they all use the word "amnesty".

Your thesis has two errors. One error is that the pro-amnesty debate is along Democrat/Republican or liberal/conservative lines. It has nothing to do with political party loyalty.
The other error in your thesis is that Americans represent their Congressmen and other political representatives. It is the other way around. When political representatives do not represent their constituency, they are subject to the unemployment line.
Just thought I would point out some errors in your thinking. Have a nice day.

We don't answer to our leaders, they answer to us. There are mid-term elections coming that will oust many amnesty supporters, mostly Democrats, and several Republicans in the Senate.

American citizens are ALL allowed their opinions regardless of what the government thinks. The reason we have so many problems today is because of your way of thinking. Americans have a duty to exercise their personal freedoms because many many people died to protect them. To simply follow blindly a course the government sets for you, what an anti-American ideal.
Lawmakers make the law, but who makes the lawmakers? The people who vote for them, thats who.
