I have a spaniel, she's 2 now, as the years have passed her humpings got worse...a leg, an arm, a head, a cushion, a teddy, anyone and anything will do and just about any'where'...She's such a little floosy!! I scold her all the time but she still hasn't learnt not to do it...Why does she do this..it's getting embarrassing when guests come round.

She is just confused about her hormones.

I once had a female dog that did the same thing.

Is she around intact males or b!tches in season? The is usually the cause.

She could also be over producing hormones...if that is the case she will grow out of it.

It is good that you scold her if it displeases you....however, I wouldn't get to carried away....it is something she really doesn't understand.

Keep it up... there will eventually be progress.

Good luck

I believe your dog was spayed. It's a dominence thing. Dogs are pack animals and she's showing whatever it is that she is above them in the pack, many times humping doesn't have anything to do with breeding. She probably doesn't do it to you or others living in the house because you are above her in the pack. You may want to call a behaviorist to find out the best way to stop this. I would yell no and make them roll over on their back to show them whatever it is they are doing this to is above them and whatever you do be consistent. This also maybe a frustration thing as well. Dogs really need to be walked for a minimum of about an hour a day. Overall dogs need exercise, disapline, and affection in that order.

My female is spayed also. She humps the cats and the male dogs in the house. Talked to the vet about it. It is actually a show of dominance. That would actually make sense - she is the boss around here...

Your female could not have been castrated. That's what is done to males. Male dogs hump. I don't think I've ever seen a female hump anything.

Why on earth might you castrate an previous boy of 11 years? If he's survived this long along with his handle in tact, i wouldn't even think of approximately doing this - even in the adventure that your vet would desire to/will? verify him over to make certain he will proceed to exist the familiar anaesthetic. he will nonetheless would desire to recover from the surgical operation, which whether nowhere close to as intense because it is for a b itch, continues to be a tension i wouldn't positioned my oldies by, till he's been having prostate issues and it is the only thank you to style him out. detrimental boy. it is plenty extra effective to spay your b itch - the quicker she's carried out, the less the risk of her getting mammary/uterine maximum cancers in a while, to assert no longer something of uterine infections. in case you're interior the united kingdom, you may teach her - you in simple terms save on with to the KC for 'permission to tutor' - it is in basic terms a formality as neutereds would be shown interior the united kingdom now

Castration refers to the removal of male parts. I hope your dog was spayed instead. Some dogs are just natural humpers.
