Well there is no law that someone must have a SSN until they're required to vote but I do agree with the schools knowing who is being educated as the education is being paid for by the legal tax paying residents of the community and not allowing a school to check status is an absurdity.
Some say that immigration laws can not be enforced or checked at the immigration level and they claim rights under the law to stop the checking. Isn't that the cat calling the kettle black as it is these same people that don't want our immigration laws enforced. You can't pick and choice which laws to follow and which to ignore just because you don't like them.
Everyone should work together to make sure all laws are enforced and local officials can setup agreements with the feds to check for and enforce immigration laws.

You apparently watch Lou Dobbs. If you go back and watch it again you will find out that there are laws in place not to mention a supreme court decision from the 1980's that prevent schools from turning away illegal immigrants. Your argument is with the legislators for not changing the law and not the ACLU for insisting that the existing law be enforced. You wouldn't want the school board to violate the law, would you?

Well, because that's actually what the federal laws says. That's how they "get off saying it".
And no, not every American is required to have one. In fact, there is no legal requirement to have one until you get a job. It was common for people to not get an SSN until they were teenagers, or out of high school.
Then there's the fact that according to Congress, states are not allowed to enforce immigration laws. So, the states which are doing so are violating Congressional law.
Now, if you think these laws are bad, I won't argue that. But they are the current law. And you have the correct solution -- get out and vote. Select a new Congress and have them change the laws.

the ACLU enforces the constitution the document that allows us to be free someone has to do it. They have never denied anyone there right to pray NEVER it NEVER happened that is a lie. In fact they defend peoples right to pray its called freedom of speech. THEY do have a problem when the GOVERMENT tells MY children HOW THEY SHOULD PRAY. HOW my children pray is my business how a raise my children is a fundemental right that Fundementalists christians want to take away.
CONGRESS makes the laws and if you want them changed your right GO vote however attacking the ACLU for making sure that the BILL of RIGHTS is not violated is just ashame. YOU do have a right to your opinion its in the bill of rights that they defend.

The supreme court says that no public schools can keep a child from attending because they are not a citizen. That means illegals could go anyway, even w/o a soc. sec. no. Maybe you should do a little research before you complain. if you want the case cite, let me know, i will gladly look it up for you.
