No this is not totally normal but it does happen with some children as with my daughter, a cool bath or just opening the windows to reduce the air temp should bring down the childs without drugs. the main thing to watch out for is vomiting and an inability to stay awake. then you should seek imediate medical help as your child may be prone to febrile fits

If the child isn't showing any signs of discomfort, and their normal routine isn't disturb (I.e. they won't eat, or they are sleeping a lot more)

It is probably ok. Most people have a fluxuation of a whole degree during the day. Regular body activity, exercize, layers of clothing, and environment all have a part in our *exact* tempature.

Additionally not everyone's body tempature is the "average" given to you on charts and in science books. Some people run a half degree high, or a half degree low. That is why it is an average...some are above, some below.

If your child seems well, and is functioning well, and you have other reason to beleive they are sick than their tempature, I think it should be fine.

Just make sure they get enough fluids.
If you still wonder, maybe you should call the doctor just to be sure.

i was watching critical condition the other week, and a child of about the same age as yours ran really high temperatures. they said that it was perfectly normal, but you obviously have to keep and eye out for other symptons. Some children also can themselves so hot that they fit and pass out, this again is normal they just cant control how hot they are like adults.perfectly normal.

There will be an underlying cause: but this must be diagnosed quickly by a doctor; take your child to the doctor with all speed, and get this situation diagnosed quickly.

Sometimes when babies are teething they run a temperature. But, you should talk to your doctor about it to make sure there isn't anything else going on.
