I don't understand the "again". I know they were pretty wealthy before the civil war. Did they mean rebuild wealth, stature, or just the physical damage of the war. What does it mean when people say this now?

It means the south will have an uprising again - that the Civil War issue is not over.

It means we will take our rightful place as leaders in the American economy. Before the United States started 'farming out' our labor and materials to and from China and other third world country, the South was King....king of Cotton. Did you know that Mississippi had more millionaires per capita than any other state? Then the North came down and stripped the economy and resources. But, we will prevail. They are coming down in droves now and we are ripping them off with our land prices.

When it is said know it is said by a redneck that doesn't know any better. The idea that the south will separate for the country at this day and time is a little far fetched. The same person who says that know can not separate from the races. i.e. Black and white. However i think that black forks are more focus on the racies that whites are. However i could be wrong i have been wrong before. So all in all it means that they want the way of life to go back to the way it was.

I think Atlanta is an example of "The south will rise again". My interpretation is that even though they were defeated in the Civil War, their spirit won't quit.

It means that one day they will again rise up and make their own decisions about their state and how to live their life. I really doubt that this can ever happen. The south has been integrated into America and it should be.

My family is from the South, but I don't think anyone still says it anymore. It meant that the South would regain their position of economic superiority, but obviously it never happened.

That is a good question. The South is south. And has never been North. How can they rise?
