I can't help you with the name...you will have to come up with one on your own.
I grew up hearing that Siamese cats could be nasty or only liked 1 person, but I just adopted a kitten who is 1/2 Siamese and he is the sweetest, friendliest little guy...cute as hell too.

Wait to see what kind of personality you new kitty has so you can decide on a name. Siamese cats got a bad reputation when Lady and the Tramp came out ( We are Siamese if You Please-We are Siamese if You don't Please). That movie also caused a change in the breed standard from applehead to a more emaciated looking Siamese. I have a purebred seal point applehead Siamese and he isn't mean - extremely vocal, a little needy(his breeder abused him), but all and all a really sweet cat. My last cat was half Siamese and half black Persian(but ALL Siamese in personality) and he was a supercool cat also. I guess a cat is like a person-you can't judge a book by it's cover. Good Luck and enjoy you new kitty. :)

As far as I know there is nothing wrong with Siamese cats my cat is 1/4 Siamese and she is awesome. They are very vocal but that is really the only thing that makes them much different from other cats. And as far as names for an orange kitty how about Marmalade, Creamsicle, Dreamsicle, Peaches, or whatever name suits kitty's personality best.

(please read it all)
Take it from a Siamese owner:
Yes, siamese can be tempermental. Especially if they have been outside a lot and not given proper attention. We had one that I recued that would sit on the bookshelf and swat you on the head (claws out) as you walked by him. I had one that would attack if she ran out of food (another rescue.) But then again, some of the worst tempered cats are domestic cats (not purebred.) They are more unpredictable than purebred cats.I've encountered some pretty mean ones since I started fostering cats.
But don't think all Siamese are bad, they aren't. I have 2 right now. Mew is a rescue from the humane sociaty. He is the sweetest most loving cat you'll ever meet. He loves on everyone who walks in my house, including the kids I babysit who tend to be mean to him. he's never attacked anyone (outside of bath time) and loves people and kittens. he's actually had a few foster kittens that he's raised. (Most of the times the mom had died and someone dropped off kittens that needed special care.) I've never met such a loving cat in my life, and I doubt if I will ever meet another like him again.
Then I have Gemini. She's not as sweet. She loves me (her mommy) but hates most males in general including my husband. We got her from a breeder and she had been caged as a kitten, so that's part of her problem. She's slow to warm up to people and other animals, but when she warms up to people she loves them to death. Usually she doesn't warm up to other animals at all, but that is partly my fault. With the fostering, I've had a string of kittens and cats come and go and she doesn't want to get attatched to any of them.
With Siamese, as with all animals, it's all about how they are treated. One bad human or moment can change them forever, so if you decide to get one, make sure it is a kitten or if you rescue, visit it more than 1 time. Siamese are great pets, but very demanding critters wo want your full attention and if they don't get that, some of them may turn mean. All I can say is don't judge all by one's temperment. We know nothing about Mew before he was at the shelter (brought in as a stray.) We know he lived in a cage there for 5 months before we met him and that he was completely decawed by whoever had once had him. When he was brought into the shelter he was sick and had been hurt in a fight with another cat. But no matter what his story is, the point of it is that it didn't change the loving nature he was shown in early childhood. If you must judge all Siamese by the actions of one, then choose Mew as that cat, because he is a prime example of a cat not afraid to give and recieve love from anyone willing to pet him.

I lost my 12 yr old Spookie to mammary cancer three years ago.
He was a neutered male apple-head Siamese and such a wonderful, loving and mischievous cat.
I have an orange tabby named Kinsey (for all the blondes and redheads in my family) and another little gal named Amber, because she has amber eyes.

Some Siamese cats can be very nasty, I've had three in the past and they were sweet and very tame...but they are also very good watch dogs.

Tangerine, Marmalade, Slice, Pumpkin, etc
I've heard that as well, but in general, it applies to all intelligent animals. It depends on how the animal is treated in the first few weeks/months/years of its life, depending on the species. I have a pure bred siamese and she loves everyone, and she is so loving. I nicknamed her gluestick because she always has to be in someone's lap. And she'll purr for hours!
