we have a quaker parrot and want to know what it is eather girl or boy is there a way to tell with out an dna test also s/he has a band on is there a web page to check on it

Nope. And nope, no way to check via the band. Breeders do not check the DNA on the birds they sell unless it's something like a Hyacinth or a Palm Cockato.
I have a Quaker and found out after everyone was convinced that it was a boy, that it is actually a Girl.
Go figure.
If you want to know, get her tested. I think it's good to know because of health issues. At least you know what kind of internal equipment you are dealing with...

The only way is DNA testing. They either use a feather or a sample of blood. You can get this when the birds nails are done. There are several companies that offer this service and it costs around 20 dollars. One of them is Avian Biotech. Other are advertised in the current issue of birdtalk.

DNA test is really the only way to know for sure. They couldnt tell when they put the band on any more than you can tell now!

I don't think you can tell the sex of a quaker by looks...some birds (African Greys for example) have to be DNA tested or surgically sexed.

How do you test a quaker? I'd ask an Amish!

i know that in birds if the bird has brighter colors then its a male... if it has light colors and is kinda pale then it is female....im not sure about parrotts though because they are all pretty colorful but my birds i have 2, one is a boy and the other is a girl.... the boy has blue right above the beak and the girl's is really light blue maybe even white...we have a book and thats what it said....

The genitalia is internal, and a vet will be able to tell you what sex your bird is.
