He was the author wasn't he...
Possibly of 'The Prince' I think.
And was very convoluted and crafty, hence the term Machiavellian for someone sly who plots.

First, you got the spelling of the name wrong... it is Machiavelli the full name is Niccolo Machiavelli. The book is "The Prince", and he wrote it for the Medici family as to an advice of how they should rule... fortunately, they did not agree with his corrupt, totalitarian ideas and paid no attention to the book.

The book was abhorred by many in the 15th century as for it depicts a lot of cruelty and despotism. - Not something strange in this day and age, but irreverent for those times. You can try to get the book perhaps at your local public library, or if you go to college you might be able to find it at the library there as well... just in case you will like to read it... If all else fails, you can always buy a copy (try Amazon.com)..

Do you mean "Machiavelli"? Do a web search trying that spelling and see if you find what you are looking for.
