Make helicopter blades out of the paper so it spins rapidly and its descent is slowed. Works for seeds on trees!

If all that you are permitted to use is the 3 pieces of computer paper and the tape, The paper must be crumpled individually. I think that I would try crumpling two of the sheets the long way. I would then place the egg in the middle of the two sheets. I would then crumple, or crease the third sheet like an accordian, again the long way, to make a wrapper around the other two sheets with the egg inside. I would then tape the outside sheet closed.

Another method might be to use the crumpled sheets to surround the egg, using the minimum tape to secure the papers. Then use the third sheet as a parachute for the package, with the masking tape as parachute cord. Cut the masking tape the long way into two strips. use the normal tape ends to connect to the package and then close the remaining tape to make a sort of thread. The package would look sort of like a paraglider with a dirgible as the passenger.

These are neat problems that make you think.

Good Luck!

Egg Drop Contest?? here is the best solution for you without having the EGG Break!!! I did it and i won the prize when i was in the high school. Even drop it from 8th floor... the egg still best as it seems.

First Step.
Soap the egg in the vinegar for 2 days. Vinegar will take away the calcium content in the egg and will cause the shell soften like turtle egg.

Second Step.
Crunch the papers in to maybe 20 to 30 pcs.

Third Step.
Use the crunched paper protect the egg by put it around all corner. The crunched paper act as a damper. Remember not to wrap it but just put the crunched paper around the egg.

Fourth Step.
Wrap the whole thing by newspaper to make sure all your cruched paper in place.

That it!!

Could use one sheet of paper to create a cube the egg would fit in. Then tear up the other pieces of paper, either many tiny strips or crumpled pieces and use like foam egg pellets to cushion around the egg in the box.

I wrapped an egg in "egg-crate" foam so it formed a basket & made a parachute for the egg. Be sure that you can secure the egg in the foam basket. The parachute will slow the descent & the foam will distribute the impact force.

Try to design the holding apparatus so that it can crumple when it first makes contact with the ground. This will reduce the force of the impact enormously.
