The fundamental basis of our society is built on laws and what they represent...freedom, safety, the pursuit of happiness, the seperation of church and state, individual rights.

Understanding what the rules are, and knowing how they apply, make it easier to follow them.

It's truly frightening how many people have no concept of how the laws work. Or how few people in the US have even bothered to read the Constitution.

The reason that we have so many lawyers, and such complicated legal systems, is that most people don't bother learning the basics -- so the gap between knowing about the law and needing professional legal advice just keeps widening.
