He won't want to eat or drink because there are blisters in his throat that hurt like hell.
Doctors will prescribe an antibiotic which will begin to reduce the blisters very quickly. When I had it, I was given a shot of penicillin (which, apparently, remains super-effective against strep...)
By the time I had driven the twenty minute drive to the pharmacy, and then home, I felt like drinking some chicken broth, and was able to eat solid food again the next day.
Get off the computer and get the kid to his pediatrician.

Strep means he has a very, very sore throat, and young children with sore throats will simply stop eating, as your son has. He's getting medication (at least, I hope he is!) and will be back to normal quickly, so you don't have to worry about him starving over the next couple of days, but you do have to be concerned about dehydration. Give him pieces of popsicle that he can pick up in his fingers. That always feels good trickling down an inflamed throat. Anything easy to swallow, like home-made smoothies that have mostly crushed ice cubes in them, are also good. Often, when children are ill, they revert to a previous stage, and your son might be more willing to take cool drinks and liquids from a nursing bottle. He'll give it up once he's better, but for now, that might help too.

I had that I lost 16 pounds in 3 days!!!
I got real sick, i wouldnt eat or drink!!
My parents came to my house and forced me out of bed i had mo energy, and took me to the hospital.
I ended up with an IV the whole day putting water in my body.
It wouldnt have been so bad, but the docter didnt put me on strong enough medicine.
I feel so bad for your little boy, docter told me Gatorade is really good for keeping the body Hyderated, and it feels good on the throat. Avoid giving him milk and orange juice stuff that leaves stuff on your throat.
Has for food chicken noodle soup broath.
Pudding, Jello, soft stuff
It took a lot to just get that down. I never did gain my weight back.

Strep throat is very contagious!! I hope you took him to the doctor. I'm assuming that is how you found out. If he keeps refusing to eat or drink; I'd call the pediatrician if I were you!

A sore throat and strep are two different things.
If he really has strep, then it's been diagnosed by a doctor and it's not a self-diagnosis. Call the doctor and ask him.

When my daughter would get this all we could get her to take was popsicles. I made mine and used fruit juices so it at least has some vitamins in it. The main thing is don't let them become dehydrated even if it is just frequent small sips of liquid they need to take something in. Ask the doctor for a medicine to numb the throat. They gave me something but I can't remember what it was. Good luck and sorry the baby is so sick.
