here is the government link for daycare resources, http://www.dfps.state.tx.us/Default.asp they list licensing status and possibly violations for centers, or a lack there of, the capacity of the center and other info in regards to it, also I found word of mouth is the best way, just pop into centers in your area, and find out what the state guidelines are in regards to licensing, the teacher child ratio, etc.... ask many many questions, and go with your gut, if you are comfortable your child will be comfortable, I have worked in childcare for many years and although just changed professions I have a 5 yr old in a daycare afterschool program and we searched for the perfect match, remember dont go based on price, some cheap centers are really great, some expensive ones are terrible. Research, start with the agency I linked you to then do your own investigating.
Good luck

When my son was younger I went through the state to find care. We had a local group that did referrals.
Also, if you have insurance, most plans come with an EAP program. (Employee Assistance Program) I used to work for one, that was national. We had listings of certified care in different regions. You may want to check that out.
And remember, usually the best way to find someone is to ask arond friends and other parents!!! There is no better to find someone, than to see who those around you trusted....
Good luck!

Well I live in CO and I know that if you go to Social services they can recommend day care providers. They may do the same in TX. I would ask my Hubby he is from Dallas but he is at work :)
