maybe they think you are too pretty to approach...if you are interested in someone approach them

I agree with everyone here, too. Us guys are just as, or maybe even more, scared than girls are.
Some of the hottest, most beautiful, and even cutest women/girls I know are send off a signal of being intimidating. Maybe you seem intimidating by the company you keep or way you do everything (walk, talk, punch guys through walls ;-p, etc.)
It could also be because you're picky, too. My best friend (whom I will admit that I have had a crush on for 10 months now) is incredibly attractive in every way (cute, has red hair, amazing smile, likes same movies, plays video games, etc). She is both intimidating and picky. And, I may note that being picky is NOT a bad thing.. It just shows that (a) you know what you want and (b) you may have morals.

Guys are intimidated. Besides that, what do you think it is? and if guys won't approach you, do you really want a relationship with someone who won't even talk to you to find out more about you? Have confidence in yourself, the right person will come along.

Flirt a little with a guy that you like. Here's some examples:
smile a lot, act friendly, talk to him, laugh at his jokes, make eye contact, tell everyone you know that you are looking for a boyfriend and you are tired of being single, go to places where single guys hang out, sign up for classes that guys would take.

You're intimidating. Either you do the approaching or try to smile more and make eye contact to those you would like to be approached by. I used to get the same thing.

guys r just intimidated.
if u want to make urself more approachable, make sure u r not hanging around w/a bunch of guys, first of all. then, look at how u stand...don't have crossed arms in front of u. also, give eye contact and maybe a lil wink if u r really interested in a guy.

You really don't have to do a thing. This isn't a race. Put away your stopwatch. Be where the guys are. Be friendly. Have fun, be happy. Be yourself. Don't worry about a thing.
Or go find a guy you want to get to know and casually start a conversation.

I agree with everyone. Guys are TERRIFIED of gorgeous girls.
Just make yourself approachable. Smile, flirt, tell jokes. He'll see that you're human and not an untouchable goddess who's off limits & feel comfortable enough to talk to you.

Guys are just as scared as girls.
If you are very attractive, guys probably don't think they have a chance so don't even try.
