There's plenty of foods which have this naturally occurring;
The best source of natural carnitine is in red meat and dairy products. Other natural sources of Carnitine include nuts and seeds (e.g pumpkin, sunflower, sesame), legumes or pulses (beans, peas, lentils, peanuts), vegetables (artichokes, asparagus, beet greens, broccoli, brussels sprouts, collard greens, garlic, mustard greens, okra, parsley), fruits (apricots, bananas), cereals (buckwheat, corn, millet, oatmeal, rice bran, rye, whole wheat, wheat bran, wheat germ) and other 'health' foods (bee pollen, brewer's yeast, carob, kale).
I would avoid giving anyone anything that has been synthesized, which is basically what acetyl l-carnitine is, man made carnitine.

first rule of thumb. do not give your child something that has no studies behind it, certainly nothing that has any scientific proof.
for ADHD many adults think their kids have it, when they really have irritable bowel syndrome. those that lack an enzyme in the gut that regulates the serretonin in the brain are often misdiagnosed as having ADHD.
Try to follow a good diet. Watch the bowel movements. My son has constipation type IBS where the stool is VERY large. It is not typically hardened, just HUGE. The other types of IBS are mixed (diarhhea/ constipation) and then just diarhhea type IBS.
Keep a food diary as well as how often and what his bowel movements are like.
Good luck and please, dont harm your child by giving him something that might pose more of a danger than that of healing.
Good luck

Rammie, I guess I was an odd child. I'm now 57 and I had a whole lot of different toys (not dolls, I wasn't into dolls) but, other thana gzillion books, the one thing that was the best ever was a Christmas present my dad got us: a whole case of tablets of blank white paper!! I wrote plays and stories, I drew, I made invoices for when we played "business." I wrote songs---I made so much use of that paper! I don't think anyone could have ever guessed how much pleasure I got out of that stupid paper!!

I don't agree with or believe in ADD or ADHD. Yes, I have a 2 year old that is full throttle from the time he opens his eyes until he goes to bed. It's called "being 2 years old". My mom had nine kids and got through us without any ADHD crap. Don't give your kids drugs for that for God sakes. Drugs are an easy way out of being able to handle your kids.
