Talk to your Teacher. Math is a progressive subject. It is hard to work ahead if you do not understand what leads up to where you are at. Skipping 7th grade Math will only make any math class from here on harder. Your teacher will understand if you talk to her and tell her you guessed on your pre-test. Go to the Teacher first, don't jump over her to your Principal, he will just suggest you talk to your Teacher anyway. Good Luck on your Math this year, 7th or 8th!

Just tell your teacher that you don't think you are ready for 8th grade math and you want to go back to 7th grade math

At my school we can take Algebra 2 in the 8th grade. I took Pre-Algebra in 6th grade, Algebra 1 in 7th, and I passed it, but in 8th grade I wasn't sure if I wanted to go on to Algebra 2 so I took Algebra 1 over again. In high school next year I'll be going to Algebra 2 (yikes! I hate math!). I think it varies according to where you live. I never even thought of it before. I just figured it was the same all over. {{...*Spontania*...}}

The best thing to do is to meet with the teacher and tell the truth. Explain that you guessed quite a bit on the test and that you feel unprepared for this class and ask for your teacher's advice and assistance.

Be honest with your teacher first. He/she might be able to help you. If you are still struggling, then go and see if you can change classes.

Consulting websites on the Internet should be a last resort.
