They might have been comedians from the start but they are probably all bitter and hate their job because being a doctor/nurse is a really demanding job that takes up a lot of time; they have no time to goof around any more.

Kind of an immature question but you know the answer. The laughter has to do with having a positive attitude and makes people feel better emotionally. Laughter always helps. It's just a positive saying.
If you have lung cancer, you can laugh all you want. This question is kind of dumb and very anal and literal.

having a serious operation or disease will not make anyone laugh not even the best comedians. it is only a statement needed for sad People with less problems or troubles.

I believe there was a movie about this..Robin Williams played the main Character..Its a good movie kind of goes with you point !

that's a good one i used to work with Dr's and most of them do not have any kind of sense of humor at all the sticks up there butts are way to big
