right click on the my computer icon, and select properties from the dialog box. That should bring up the info you need. There are other ways, but I think this is easiest.

The way I use most frequently is to right click the mouse on My Computer (Left click on Start, Right click on My Computer, and select Properties). As you can see from the answers you got, that there are many ways to get to this screen--all of which are OK.

On this screen, notice how much RAM you have. If you are running WinXP and it is less than 512M, you have found a major reason that your machine runs slow. Another major one is spyware--which you do have running on your computer since you have accessed the internet. Get rid of it!

Watch the screen as it boots up. Or, if there is a "My Computer" icon, right-click it and choose "Properties". If there is a C:\ prompt, type "ver". If there is a $ or # prompt, type "uname -a".
