I wouldn't go see a "Brain Ranger," thats for sure. They really know how the thought process works. Me for example. When my platoon leader died in Iraq, they had a psychologist come in and talk to our platoon. He knew nothing about what we are going through, except when he was in cuba and they took his patients away.
My point is, nobody can tell you how to make yourself better, except you. Those who have been there before only can tell you how they got out of it. Those who have never been there, can only speculate and act like they know who to get you out of it.

You really sound pretty depressed...fighting your depression is getting insight into why it happens and looking for triggers to keep it from recurring. Maybe you have not found the right treatment as yet, so keep fighting. If you are on medications, maybe you need to change to a different one. If you've been in therapy, maybe it's time to change therapists to get a different viewpoint. It may mean engaging in more activity, getting more sunlight, finding supportive people, whatever...it's very individualized, and everyone is different. Fighting it means learning who you are and what it takes to prevail over it. Surrendering to your depression makes it win the fight. Despite how tired you are of it, you don't want that, otherwise you wouldn't have asked this question. Keep struggling, it'll pay off. You'll see what it can be like to live without depression...It's really up to you. It can be done.

Yes i know what you're talking about. i underwent depression too and this is all the crap they kept telling me.
best thing to do is - forget that you're having the depression. dont think about it, like feeling depressed, or if ppl aren't liking you, or you feel like killing yourself etc. Push it out of your mind. Instead replace it with "everyone loves me" , and "life is wonderful". Say it with a smile. (even if its forced at first). One sure thing that helped me out of my depression is getting closer to God. If you are a christian, go to church more often, and read your Bible. It may sound cliche, yes i doubted too, but it IS very healing for the soul, as no one understands you better than the Creator of you!
Wake up with a morning with a smile on your face and say "Thank you God for this wonderful day!" Look into the mirror and SMILE and say "Wow! I'm sexy!"
Also make sure you have a proper discpline - eating proper meals at the exact time, keep your room and self clean, sleep at the exact time, etc. Follow these set instructions by you. It will help you gain confidence coz these are somethings WITHIN your power and control!
I'm telling you to say all this whether you FEEL like it or not. Repeated word confessions (affirmations) will eventually impress onto your subconscious mind. This is how depression starts in the first place. Reverse the process! Don't psychoanalyze your depression (or let other ppl for that matter). Psychobluff it!
You're free! Happiness is within your grasp. :D
P.S
Try St.John's wart instead of conventional medicines as it is a lot milder and hardly any side effects. I was on conventional meds and they did s*hit for me. Instead St. John's wart is almost like a herbal vitamin.

ok, so you are tired of hearing "...try harder..." so stop sharing your problem with those people.
If you don't want advice, don't share your problem with those who's opinion you don't agree.
You mention a spiritual passage. Are you a believer in God's healing power? I am, and I have had depression with ADD. I have prayed but I did not get a miracle. I still take medicine that helps with the depression. It does help. But dr.s are " practicing" they do not have all the answers as to which meds. work for which person best.

What are your hobbies? What interests you?
Dancing? Baseball? Museums? Bowling? Painting?
Get involved don't sit back & just wait for the pills to kick in. Use discipline & know that happiness doesn't come in pill form. I believe there are certain medications that can help you but you too have to help yourself as well! Everyone has a certain amount of depression in their lives. Whether it be from work related issues, divorce, children, school problems, money,......
It's up to you to find what makes you happy. What puts a smile on your face. Get up & do something about it. You're alive and apparantly have several ways of communicating. Be thankful for that & use your God given talents to get out there and meet people. Most people you'll find are just like you.
Good Luck!! YOU can do it!!!!!

When one's brain transmitters get imbalanced and the neuro-transmitters get crossed or stop working, medicine is needed to re-align the brain chemistry.
Don't be closed minded - exorcism (curing -spiritual passage problems) went out in the years way before the loch ness monster was ever even thought about.

That's like saying snap out of a broken arm. Depression is a chemical imbalance in the brain, not feeling sorry for yourself. Doctors know the chemicals, but no one can say the precise amount so the drugs don't always work. Hang in there and keep trying.

You have the answer in your question. People's advice won't change your mindset. You have to decide to change your mindset. If your mind is set to think negative thoughts all the time, you will never get out of your depression. You need to get into the habit of pushing negative thoughts out of your mind and replacing them with positive thoughts. A counselor can help you learn to do this.

What don't you like about your life? It's hard to tell someone what to do about depression, You know yourself better than anyone else. Try doing things that you like, that makes you feel good. Write down all the things you like thats going on in your life vs. the bad, and try to replace or resolve the bad. Maybe that will help you get headed in the right direction. Good luck.
