Send them a certified letter and tell them that you do not wish to be called anymore.
They are required by law not to call again, unless it is to inform you of their intent to take it further(court, garnishments)
If they do call after receiving the letter, they can be fined and sued.
It can take 30 days after they receive the letter for the calls to actually stop, so make sure you also tell them on the phone for that time period that you sent a letter requesting no more calls.

You did it now you need to pay it.
If you have a mortgage and at least $10,000 in other debt check out: http://www.NoDebt4U.org
This company gets rid of all your debt, including your mortgage in about 9 years. No upfront fees. Does not mess up your credit. You can get a free 6 page debt analysis to see how it will work for you before you get on the program.
If you don't have a mortgage or don't qualify for the program you can purchase their Money Mastery Kit. It is a do it yourself program.

If you don't make an arrangement your accounts go to collections first. (Thus the calls ) - Then after a while your status changes to Recoveries and you are not recieving a lot of calls but it is very negative on your credit report. In this department they may be willing to negotiate a better settlement but damage has already been done to your credit report that may take years to get back .

A failure to communicate or pay will initially lead to increased debt as the finance charges are added monthly to the previous balance.
After awhile, you will receive formal notices and eventually be handed over to a collection agency and perhaps court for a judgment as a means of enforcing that collection effort.
I would suggest that you call them and arrange payment terms that will compliment your present ability to pay OR file bankruptcy.

If you don't pay credit card dept it goes away in 7 years.... no kidding... but that's if you don't charge or pay anything for 7 years.
Also start writing down everything the telemarkets do... a lot of the nagging.. is illegal!!! My BF is sueing a credit card company for this same thing!! Contact a lawyer... not only does he not have to pay $7,000 to captial one... they are going to end up giving him money. Contact a lawyer and ask them the "laws" for telemarkets!!

When they call, tell 'em, "Don't call me again." Legally, they've got to stop.
(Big tip: telemarketers are not the same as creditors.)
