Rubbing Alcohol works great. Pour it on the hair, then wrap with saran wrap and then a towel for 10 minutes or so. Then start going through the hair with a lice comb. Make sure you go through the hair every day for a week to make sure you get all the eggs as well.
To be safe, repeat the alcohol a second time, one week later.
Good Luck!

this is what mom did to me when i caught lice in the 4th grade-
she took a whole jar of mayo, and smothere the lice in it, she then tied a plasic bag over my head, so there are no cracks or airholes, and had me wear the mayo for 2 hours, then, she washed out my hair, and combed it with the soecial comb. I have never had probs since.
Apparently drowning your hair in mayo smothers the lice, and the suffocate to death. I do think , if I remember right, she had to use nix or something to kill the eggs.

Buy some medicated shampoo like Rid at the drugstore. It is specifically made to kill the lice.

Try one of the lice shampoos and then you can try mayo. Leave the mayo in over night. You need to wash everything in hot water and all the objects in the home need to be cover or kept in freezing temps. Toys and stuffed animals need to be kept in plastic bags, close tight for a week or longer to kill the bugs.

I am sick to death of all these naturalists and their natural homeopathic remedies... *See below... You cannot kill lice, (especially super lice) with anything but a pestacide PERIOD!
I hate... HATE HATE people that use this natural crap so as not to harm their kids and instead, haphazardly pick a nit or two and then ship them back off to school with more hidden in their heads, backpack or bedding and clothing. You not only re infest yourself, you pass it along to those of us who take proper measures and precautions so that this sh*it doesn't happen to us and our kids once a fuc*king week.
This is what I did the ONE TIME my oldest son came home with lice. (That he got from a limo ride to chucky cheese for winning in one of those god damned fun raiser things!)
Put a plastic shower cap on his head with vaseline around the edges to keep the little bastards in.
Take him to to his peditrician and get the medication
Or, if you have no health covererage (which the homeopathic nit picker natural mom's, always seem to have IN OVER ABUNDENCE!) as these are the same mothers who treat without antibiotics and send their sneezy drippy nosed little hands on brats in to give ut to those of us who dont have INS.)
Anyway...
If you have no coverage or can't afford it, Go to the drug store and get the RID. It is more harsh a chemical but it usually works in one pass where you sometimes have to repeat the stuff you get at the doctors office.
Take them outside in the yard under the hose, treat the entire head, leave it on as long as told, rinse it out and sit there for hours with a comb and pick out every single dead nit while soaking the comb in alcohol between passes.
Wait a few days before sending them back to school! Then treat again if needed.
In the meanwhile...
Wash all bedding
Buy the spray can lice, flea and dist mite spray and treat the entire room!
Bag and spray all stuffed animals
lose fabric, pillows, toys, rugs, closets, backpacks and matress and pads.
THEN... check AGAIN... then send your kid back to school.
QUIT SPREADING THIS JUNK by not using a strong enough chemical.
It's not like you have to do it once a week if everyone does what they are supposed to do, then you should only have to use it once. I do believe that your body is able to withstand a little poison for a greater good.
IT IS BECAUSE of you natural, homeopathic herbal cure idiots that OUR kids have to use the chemicals... I HATE ALL OF YOU! DEEPLY COMPLETELY and with a black dead heart!
And after thats done... Use a laminent hair product in their hair after showering. If they can't stick to the hair shaft, they cant lay eggs the greasy silicone prevents them from laying so they don't reproduce! Every major shampoo brand has a cheap laminent product.

an at home remedy that works is mayonaise and vinegar...wash hair with shampoo and then put mayonaise throughout your hair, this suffacates the lice and they will fall out when you wash your hair again...the vinegar works to rinse out all the eggs...just use the vinegar to rinse the mayo out and then wash your hair with shampoo again...you may have to do it more than once to get the full effect depending on your hair type, but it has always worked for me on the first time...

Buy prescription shampoo from the drugstore that kills them, and then wash hair again (normal shampoo) 3-5 hours later. And don't share hats, helmets, hair elastics and headbands.
