I actually need the ages and weights that are legal. I don't want to move her to a booster unless it is ABSOLUTELY safe to do so. Thanks.

When should I put my toddler into a booster seat? What’s the best way to protect my preschooler?

A: Finding the best way to buckle up a toddler can be confusing. It is very important that parents recognize boosters as the best option for children over 40 pounds. However, do not push your child out of a convertible or toddler seat too soon. A child should remain in a child safety seat with a harness as long as he/she fits, which means until:

the child has exceeded the weight limit of the seat, usually 40 pounds
he/she has grown too tall for the seat (ears are above the back of the car seat)
the shoulders are above the highest strap slots
If any of these apply, the next step is to move to a booster
I found this in the internet I hope it helps you.......Mom of 4

4 years or 40 lbs. You will definitely want one with a 5 point harness. Children should be in boosters until they are 80 lbs. There are lots of great seats out there. Have it okay-ed by experts at the police or health department. As your child matures and gets taller you can move to the smaller booster seats that use your car's seat belt. Good Luck

well I'm not sure about the ages and weights but my mom works in a hospital she works and delivers babies and I'm taking a class in collage on family/consumer which deals with kids
well my brother is 3 and hes already been in a booster seat from the age of 2 he only weighs 20lb and is not real tall either so it is definitely safe for your daughter to move to a booster seat just make sure shes not shorter then were the trey is or she could hit her head you should probably get a booster seat that buckles so that she doesn't fall out.
i know that your probably a new mom i can tell by how your worrying well that's OK but i think you should be a little less worried i mean i know your her mom and everything but it just seems maybe like your trying to slow her down a little no offense but shes not a baby shes a toddler and i understand that your worried but you should just move to the next step stop trying to slow down the growth and development process you should get her a booster seat just like the 1st time you put her in it keep a close eye on he
well i gotta go know i hope i helped and i hope you follow my advise well good bye and have a nice day.

It's 4 yrs old AND 40 lbs. My 4 yr old is only 32 lbs & won't be in a booster until she is much bigger.(she is small for her age) My personal opinion is I would keep them in the regular seat until they are over the weight limit for that seat. If she's over 40 lbs though she should be ok(since you said she was 5). My girls will be in a regular child seat until they jsut won't fit anymore. lol We have the built ins in our van though.

**Edited to say that I was assuming that you are talking about a booster using the cars seat belt & not a booster with the 5 or 3 pt harness.

They just moved my daughter,3, to a high back booster seat. They told me the requirements are 30-35 lbs and at least 37 inches tall. I went to an easterseals car seat safety check in my town. It my vary by state though. Hope this helps >:3 }~

Generally after 40 pounds you can put a child in a booster seat. They dont need the 5 point harness after that point.

A better way to know for sure is you call your local police departments non emergency line, they offer all sorts of literature on when to switch to the different car seats.

All I can say is that all children must be in booster seats until they reached the height of 4'11" and then they will be able to use seat belts. Sorry I didnt answer your original question but hope that this helps.

hey go to babiesrus homepage and look for boosters seats in their......the child doesn't have to be of a specific age or height....it depends on the weight first.
all companies that make booster seats have different weighing group.....

My sons booster says 30lbs. It has a way to adjust seatbelt straps so height I guess is...3 ft.

Go to Graco's website. They should have a ton of specs.
