What do you guys think about how our foods are prepared, I am talking about ready to eat foods including candies and sodas. I believe the companies use too much sugar and salt in their products, wouldnt it be better without less sugar or/and salt? It would have a more natural flavor to it wouldnt it? I am saying this because I was just eating a piece of chocolate and all i can taste is sugar... the chocolatey flavor doesnt even comes to be present, or might be too low.

You are so right, BUT, the general public will not buy the food that is healthier. That is why the health food section is about 1/2 an aisle in the grocery store. Food companies are in the business to sell, so they make it the tastiest they can. That means, salt, sugar, and don't forget FAT.

I agree there is absolutely too much sugar and salt used in most commercially prepared foods. That is why home made is still the best.

all of those low sodium low sugar foods are disgusting. Take diet soda for instance which has low everything they taste sweeter than the original soda. I say the companies are doing a fine job.

You're singing my song, kitty.

Thus far I have found only ONE breakfast cereal in Safeway that fits my dietary needs - NO sugar, and REASONABLE amounts of carbs. Imagine - one cereal in that whole big aisle!

Sugar and sodium are everywhere. It's wild. It's terribly difficult to purchase anything that's "prepared food" and have it be worth anything.

All I can say is - learn to cook it yourself from base ingredients! btw, making your own chocolate can be really awesome!

I think junk food should taste like junk, not vegetables.

The real problem is people NEVER eat these food in extreme moderation as they were intended.
