I had difficulty as a child learning to tie my shoes. So my moms friend taught me the bunny ear way and I still use that method today. That is also how I taught my daughter and she caught on right away. So I don't know if it is a better way but it certainly is easier.

There is no good or bad way. My dad used to tell me it was childish to tie them the bunny ears way, but it works for me, and it gets the job done, which is all that really matters, right? I'm an adult and I still tie it the bunny ears way.

I've never heard it referred to as "bunny ears." I couldn't do it the other way as a kid. My next door neighbor told us that in Europe, they use the bunny ears because the other way is hard to master. So, she showed me once and I've been doing it that way ever since and it's the way I will teach my son though my youngest brother thinks it's weird, which means "different" to him, which is a code word for him meaning "wrong." But that's another category.
