Does the movie "The Neverending Story", have some truth in it, for you?

Fascinating book, fair movie. The characters aren't all that well developed in either, but they still manage to be utterly fascinating, especially the Greenskin Warrior, Atréju (Atreyu), and the mysterious and gentle Childlike Empress. And who wouldn't like to have a Glücksdrache (luckdragon) for a friend? :-)

At the time I read the book, I was a person of faith, and I remember seeing some parallel between Bastian reading _The Neverending Story_ and a seeker first reading the Bible. Bastian begins as a mere observer of the story, but eventually he realizes that he is involved with the inner story of the Book. It affects him and he can affect it. Many religious persons have had a similar realization about the Bible. It "dawns on them" that they are, in a manner of speaking, "a part of the story."
