E-1 is lowest paygrade in the branch.
E-9 is the highest enlisted rank achievable. Throughout the Branches there is one "Senior Enlisted Man/Woman."

Thse are "Specialists" inside their MOS. Basically, they are the ones you look to when a question arises about your specific MOS.

E stands for Enlisted and the number refers to the pay grade

O stands for Officer.

Please note the first 3 or 4 promotions come almost automatically in a short period of time... Als in addition to promotions you also get pay increases every 2 yrs for seniority. Consult a pay chart that you can find at Militay.com or http://www.dod.mil/militarypay/pay/index.html

Hopefully this will help you more to understand... also you can consult a recruiter for the latest in information. Good Luck! ucho Gusto!

Go to www.about.com
the first thing you need to do is talk to a recruiter.
Can you even join with more then 2 dependants? If so you may need a waiver and a waiver takes time.. Look into this more..
I used www.about.com and it really helped out a lot. Or go to the navy website.

Those are your pay grades, It concerns how much you will make. How much you make depends on how long you intend to stay in. If you are willing to work your way up. Also it depends on if you go to school while in and become an officer. But you should be able to make enough to suppport your family as long as you are wise with your money. What will you be going in as??

Also it will affect how much Housing allowance you get for your family, normally lower ranks get less money, but you can still get wic and food stamps

Do you have a degree? It is *much* better to go in as an Officer (go to the *officer* recruiter, the enlisted one will just feed you a line of bull) if you can. OCS for you! and if you get your wish, and if overseas=Japan... give me an e-mail I'll try to help ya out!

it is rank rating for payscales and stuff, i dont think it has much to do with your family situation, just how hard you work and what you will do to get the promotions.
