The fish symbol was a code during the times when the Romans used to persecute the Christians. Fish live in hiding under water in caves and the Christians of that time could relate to the fish, who did not want to be caught and brought out into the sun and killed off.

Also, some of the disciples were fishermen, and were supposed to be fishers of men, as some of the bible verses tell them to do.

These are the explanations given by some of my Christian friends. I hope these are correct. I am sure there are other interpretations of why the symbol of fish is used by Christians also and I would love to learn about them as well.

The fish are supposed to represent one of two things, the first is the statement of jesus "fishers of men" the other to represent the miracle of the fish and loaves. (No miracle there, back in those days everyone traveled with food, it was a large pot luck). However if you take the fish symbol and put it on its end, tail side down; you have the Oni the most ancient symbol of the goddess. Cut off the tail fins and stand it up you have the Ona the most ancient symbol of the god consort to the goddess. I used to have a "pagan fish" on the back of my car.

New Testament Christians used a fish as a designation or symbol of the fact that they were true followers of Jesus Christ as their only Lord and Savior from all their sins. They did mean to offend anyone in the process. I sure that is also true today.

I guess....it's to symbolize their belief in creationism I believe. It's rather pointless as the fish was a symbol in ancient days as a way for Chritians to see if they were among friends. One would draw half of the fish and see if the other person drew the rest of the fish--if he didn't, no talking about God. If he did, they could openly speak about religion. They would draw these symbols in the dirt, so that it could be erased.

Christians put an ichthus on their cars because its an early Christian symbol, having to do with the disciples being "fishers of men", meaning bringing lost people to Christ.

Naw, just on alert, the car may suddenly be empty if the Rapture occurs lol.

Personally, I hate it when they have those on their cars and then drive like a satanist who's late for his appointment to kiss satan's rear lol

Why do people put spinning wheels on their cars?

Why do some people drive cars with brown paint?

The same reasons people get personalized licence plates or put rock star posters in their rooms. People are entitled to put whatever wherever. Get over it.
