Dogs are allowed to bark for no more than 20 minutes at a time, after this barking constitutes a noise nuisance. Environmental Health at your local council should be able to help by writing to your neighbours and asking that they stop this nuisance. If they fail to comply then action can be taken. You do not have to put up with this

There are laws in most towns and cities regarding barking dogs. Don't just call the police and complain on the phone. Put in a formal, written complaint. Too often if you only call you don't get treated seriously. You have to be willing to pursue the complaint, not call and expect the police to do it for you. It is too easy for the owners of the dogs to simply say you are lying and pull the dogs inside when an officer shows up. Without a formally filed complaint or witnessing the problem over a period of time the officer cannot really take your word over theirs. The officer does not know for sure that the dogs always bark because it is normal all dogs to bark when a strange police officer comes to the house.

If you're in the UK, speak to your local council about and ASBO against your neighbour.

You should start to keep a log of days, dates and times the dogs bark and if possible record it too using any sort of decent recording device you may have....tape recorder, camcorder, dictaphone etc.

Usually for an ASBO, the more info/detail and evidence you can provide will assist your case.

ASBO - Anti Social Behaviour Order - granted by a sherrif and actioned by the council / police.

Barking Dogs and the neighbours who allow it have been given ASBO's already in various council areas across the UK.

good luck!

maximum places have a noise bylaw like after 11pm and earlier 7am because of the fact the neighbor hasn't stopped itand the police have not carried out plenty get in touch with the bylaw officer and the community humane society. there may be a reason the dogs is barking as in no food or water he has no guard or in line with danger he's in simple terms trouble-free lonely. The Humane Society will verify issues out and confer with the owner if he does not comply they produce different measures they are able to apply. If all else fails each and every so often it is optimal to get your self some good headphones. good success

Write down what happens every day.

If the dogs get out of their owner's property or show aggressive behavior, take a picture.

When you think you have some good evidence to support your complaint, contact the animal control or dog warden.

Usually the authorities don't do anything about noisy dogs....they are more interested in wild, roaming, and aggresive ones....so it may take a while.....remember, the squeeky wheel gets the oil.

You may also consider the police as they have ordinances against noise.

Good luck

If the neighbor does not respond to you, than ask your surrounding neighbors to join you and contact local law enforcement, one at a time, about an hour apart on the same day. That does the trick every time. ( even if you can only get one other neighbors help) power in numbers

Make an anonymous call to the Humane Society. Could be that the dogs are under stress from being penned up in a yard all the time, and not walked.

The most important thing to do is to keep a diary, noting the time and duration every time they bark and make sure that you have tapes of them. Contact your local council and environmental health as well.
