Oh absolutely! FYI- if you're eating dried prunes put the in the fridge, they are actually quite yummy that way! I wouldn't suggest eating more than 4 though. LOL!

Prunes are said to be very good to relieve constipation, My grand mother use to swear by them!
Prunes have a high fibre content, good in assisting the intestinal track, reducing cholesterol and assist against diabetes.
A good healthy balance of fresh fruit, salads, veg will help digestion.
I also find that a glass of warm plain lemon juice in the morning is a good thing to do for the entire system.

It will help, but you have to eat an awful lot of them. The better thing to do (especially if you like prunes) is to get prune juice. Put a cup in the microwave and heat it up. Good and hot. Drink it as quickly as you can stand it. I am telling you it REALLY works!

Mom was right!

Hi they are known to, but in some bad cases they dont. I find if i drink loads of diet coke then ill beable to go in a matter of minutes. As it causes laxative effect if you drink a few glasses. My dad was suffereing for days with it, he even go some senokot which is mainly full of prunes and wat not. But this didnt work, So i told him my method, just have a few glasses of diet coke, and believe it or not it worked like i said it would. Its worth giving it a try. Just dont drink too much or you will wont beable to get of the loo. About 3 250ml glasses should do. Chewing gum helps also anything sugar free.

Yes, they are great for that. Prune juice is also effective and also good to drink (an acquired taste for some).

Apparently they do but they have never worked for me.

I go for food with bran in it that is high in fibre. Lots of fruit is good. Try Activia fibre yoghurt. They are reasonably priced and they make me go to the loo at least once a day. Ryvita dark also helps as well as bran flakes.

of course these will help. But what is your normal diet like?

Do you eat bread with lots of seeds in it,weetabix, drink water. Are you under stress..all this can have an effect on your body..and everyone is different..i get constipated when i am pregnant..or buiscuits..or just before a period..so i eat plenty of high fibre food..like finely chopped savoy cabbage, mix bran flakes with corn flakes...visit a herbal health shop too..and see what advice you can get there too.

constipation also can cause "piles"..so do not push too hard...all the reason to vary your fruit and veg.
