What should be the maximum age difference between a man and a woman? Does it matter which gender is the "older one?"

There are no maximums but what has to be considered is that the greater the age difference, the less you will have in common. Lifetime experiences, hobs, relationships from the past ect all help to unite people with understanding as to the other ones experience. If both of you are young a gap of 5 yrs would seem a large gap but if both of you were 50 it just wouldnt count. Whether its the man or the woman who is eldest realy isnt important. what matters is how much you are able to share together.

It doesn't matter at all. I am dating someone who is 5 years older than I am and it is working out well. As long as you are truly happy with that person and you feel a great connection then you are doing everything right. Age difference should be the least of anyones worries, but unfortunately people look so deeply at that sort of thing, but I wouldn't, it's not a big deal at all. Good luck.

if u fall in love nothing can stop you from loving each other. But your parents might disagree. For example my parents would love for me to marry a girl the same age as me and from the same racial background. Thats what most parents usually want. The man should usually be a couple of years older or same age. However my dad's bro married a girl a year older then him and they are happily married. Shouldnt be more then a 5 year difference in my opinion unless u are really in love.

I don't think we should allow society to dictate age restrictions in relationships. There is a 21 year age gap between my boyfriend and I (I'm 27). I have never been happier in my life. Just like with any relationship, it needs to have the essentials like trust, understanding, communication, interests, goals, etc. If those elements are in place, then nothing else matters. Love is the greatest feeling in the world, and age shouldn't stop anyone from experiencing it.

I would think that if you've reached a point where you're in love, then you've bypassed all of the road blocks of the age difference.

I've never been able to move towards love in a relationship with anyone that was 7 or more years younger, because they're just getting established in life, where I'm established and I'm ready to settle down.

So if a couple are in love, then they've worked through issues like this. There are tons of examples of couples who do it successfully. It just depends on the pair.

I don't believe age matters. I'm dating a man 6 years older than myself (i'm 23, he's 29). It all depends on the couple. if you share the same interests and past times, you should have no problem!

To quote Celine Dion - "love doesn't have an age". Celine's husband is about 20 years older than her. Consider also Demi Moore and Ashton Kucher; she's 43 he's 27. If you live your life from your heart, you won't have to ask.

I wouldnt recommend anymore than 10 yrs difference. I can see the age difference in myself and my hubby, as far as his energy level compared to mine, and also, at times, he used to try to act like my parent. He quit doing that eventually, but Id have to say that this happens more with ppl that have a huge difference in their ages. Im not saying all these ppl do that, but it happens alot.

40 and 13 = bad

20 and 17 = ok

once they're 18 and up:
15 years or less gap is generally OK with the public
15+ years is usually bad with the public
