Washable Fabrics
Non Washable Fabrics
Carpets and Furnishings

Rub neat washing up liquid into mark, carefully rinse off. Dry clean if stain persists.

Carpets and Furnishings

I think that depends on how much dye we're talking about! What the carpet is made of will be a factor too...

However, my measly suggestions are:

First, DRY blot the area to remove as much dye as possible. Pinch it out of the fibers. Blot from the outside to the inside so you won't spread the stain. Then, snip off as much of the carpet nap as you can without leaving a noticable bald-spot. (Whatever you can get rid of will be stuff you won't have to clean)

Again, from the outside to the inside of the stain, blot with water. Then with water and a dandruff shampoo--dandruff shampoo will strip a lot of the color out of your hair if you make a mistake, so it might also work for certain types of carpet fiber. Worth a shot!

Than you can try Formula 409. It has a slight bleaching action, but won't eat the fibers the way bleach will.

And you can always call the 800# on the package--I find it hard to believe that they haven't heard this question a million times before! Hopefully, they'll have a better answer than the rest of us!

If the dye is plant-based,then u should have no trouble getting it off with the normal detergent and water mixture. But if it's not plant-based,then the only way is to buy ahair dye that's the same colour as your carpet (or the closest you can get)and start dyeing!xoxo

I'm not sure about hair dye, but I've gotten some doosies out with Woolite Oxy Deep carpet cleaner, like chili and purple dye left after getting candle wax out. It's worth a try, just try to use as soon as possible. I'm sure the longer it sets the harder it will be.

Good luck!

the question is how did you get hair dye on the carpet in the first place??

Suppose you were using permanent dye into the bargain...maybe just a large rug to cover it up. Sorry.

you can't. it's dye. it dyed your carpet. it's not like juice that can be cleaned up. dye changes the color of the thing it is on...clothes, hair, carpet....

if it's not in a bad spot, then you may be able to cut that section up and replace it with a section of remnant carpet of the same thing....

That's a tough one. Bicarb? That does most things. If not then you'll need to fork out for a new carpet.
