Exercise and a basic obedience class will go a long way to managing over active dogs. the issues many owners have are due to an inappropriate relationship with their dogs. another cause of this is incompatible temperments (dominate human with a dominate canine). Temperment testing can assist with this issue. A calm presentation of a human can also provide security for a dog who is anxious. consulting a veterinarian and/or an Animal behavior specialist can also lead to a better relationship between your dog and you.

There is a product called-Rescue Remedy-available in Health Food stores. It works.
Jack Russell's are hyper dogs. Keep him busy and lots of exercise.

Jack/Parson russells are hyper dogs. They need daily stimulation, or they can become destructive.
They were bred to hunt do they need a 'job' so to speak.

JR's love frisbee and fly ball, its a good way to get their energy out. Or if you have more time, look into agility training.

take him for walks, if you happen to have a four wheeler or a riding lawn mower let him run along side of him to tire him out.. i have a jack russell too (who's also hyper) and that seems to help him :) try some other activities that tire him out fast... if this doesn't help you might want to talk to someone at petsmart (like obedience teachers or just an employee) or your vet to help you find other solutions for him.

Lots of exercise....I have a Brittany and she is also very hyper....Just take them out where the can run for a while....I take my dog to the park or out to a pasture and just let her run for a while.....she stays pretty calm as long as I get her out about 3 times a week....If I don't she will drive me nuts.

If the dog hasn't been spayed/neutered. get it done. It calms dogs down immensly. If this isn't the problem, get a fenced in back yard, they are naturally hyper dogs and love to run and fetch and play all the time.

Mines a pom...
I have 4 poms, and my superhyper one calms real quick when I try to pet him..>(Ie; Backrub). He is the loudest yapper too.

My other 3 are older and I have one that often 'TOO calm'
That one happens to be my 'therepy dog' and is a very prized dog at that.

frequent walks thruout the day. Also give it toys that will mentally stimulate it.
i have stuffed animals that have eggs inside the tummys. The eggs have squeekers in them. It's fun to watch them worry that animal until an egg pops out.
