But basically, absent details, the idea only becomes a problem with one or more religions declare themselves the One True Way™ and attempt to impose their beliefs and definitions on everyone else.

"Sacred" or "holy" generally refer to things that are highly valued, so much so that they should be beyond challenge or taint, and as such must be respected and cherished. And because that is going to vary from religion to religion, those religions which insist on their beliefs being accepted by everyone are going to get upset when people don't agree with them.
