bruce lee would win. Bruce Lee was a master of modern kung fu, and wushu. To say he couldn't take muhammad ali is flase. Bruce Lee could Punch a 150 pound bag off its chain. Muhammad ali all though fast could not do such a thing. Bruce was a sparrign expert and a combat master any one that doesn't know this should. He trained many other great martial artists and i'm betting if he never had to work his ballz off to live in north american he could have had a ver reputible fighting carreer. Not that he would have done this because kung-fu is not supposed to be used as a tool like we use it now. but not many people honour taht tradition. Mr. Lee was a one in a life tiem in dividual. not to say That muhammad ali isn't. just that bruce created a martial art where as muhammad ali perfected a sport!

My guess is that if you had to follow the rules of boxing, Muhammad Ali would have won.
The key to matial arts is applying lots of force over a small area. Wearing boxing gloves would have removed the martial arts advantage. I do believe that Muhammad Ali would win, but he would also know he had been in a fight.
If you removed the gloves, full contact, no holds barred. Bruce Lee would win... maybe 30 secs, maybe 1 1/2 minutes.

Bruce Lee never did wushu, he did primarily Wing Chun Kung Fu, some Tae Kwon Do (learned kicks) and took parts for other styles/ things he learned from training partners etc.. He took all these along with modern boxing to develop his own style.
Following Boxing rules and regulations (IE no kicks) and in a boxing ring (less evasion) I would give it to Ali.
No holds barred, I would give it to Bruce Lee. A side kick to the gut would have been enough to knock Ali out of commission.

Ali would kill bruce Lee. Even in no hold barred fight. Ali is huge and powerful and he have more sparring experience than Lee. All bruce Lee do is a couple tricks and show off.
