Thanks supersam82 for your answer.
However how do you feel about using idols in worship? (Please see one of my other questions)
EXODUS 20:3 & 4 clearly shows what God thinks about it but the majority of churches ignore this warning. - What do YOU think?

Dear New Sys Lady,

The church age ended in 1988. The Lord is no longer using the local congragations to bring forth the gospel. If you will read 2 Thessalonians 2 (whole chapter) the Lord clearly shows us that satan (man of sin) is now ruling (taken his seat) in ALL the local churches. One must remember, that being a memeber of a church did not assure salvation! Neither did water baptism seal a person into the family of God. All of these rituals or traditions were symply signs and had no spiritual merit. For example the water of baptism could not wash away one (1) sin but the water represents the Gospel of Jesus Christ and only He can wash one free of their sin (Titus 3:5). The same falling away from the truth that happened to Israel in the Old Testament has happened to the NT churches. We are actually in the Great Tribulation at this present time (the Great Tribulation or Jacob's trouble precedes the second coming of Christ). And going back to 2 Thessalonians 2 we also find that the Holy Spirit has left from ALL the local congregations. That means that absolutely NO ONE can be saved regardless of the accuracy of the preaching. Read Matthew 24:15, 16--the true believers are to depart from the church (temple) and go to the mountain (Christ; remember Psalm 121?)
If you go Revelation 2 + 3, you will see that the churches were being attacked by the devil all the way back there! The church of Laodicea had gone so far away from truth that the Lord was going to leave (remove the candlestick). In the parable of the wheat and the tares, the Lord reveals what satan has been doing for centuries--sowing tares into the churches. The tares represent satan's workers who bring false teachings ie., baptismal regeneration, divorce is alright, free will gospels, Mary as a Mediatrix, priests not to marry, etc. The wheat represent the true believers.

The term Reverend was translated in the KJV of the Bible in Psalms 111:9. This is the only place that it occurs and this refers to God. No one on earth has this status.

The term bishop is the same as elder and the qualifications for these men are to be found in the New Testament.

The other terms are not used in the Bible an are not used.

We as Christians are all priests. As found in 1Peter 2:5,9.

I guess it's helpful to know a person's occupation or status - like the title Dr., or Ms /Mrs. for a woman. A Bishop cares for his clergy, and so on. In the Christian Church all are equal, all are "kings and priests" scripture tells us; we just have different tasks allotted to us.

Who cares what people are called, it's what they do that counts?

Jesus also said not to hurt others....

The commandments said not to take a persons life.....

Respect was the message. Respect man!

Only the ones that are psuedo Christian do that, such as the Catholics who take their tenates from three sources once of which is the Bible. That is they are both pagan and Christian, and intyerestin concept.

Religion is about power so the clergy give themselves fancy titles to make themselves 'important'.

I don't accept it as ok. Why clegymen have given themselves these titles is a mystery to me, especially how we are to address some of them as Father. We have only one Father who is our God.
