The bible says that we are souls and we can die:

(Note, the word person in the following verse is "nephesh")

Numbers 31:19
And do ye abide without the camp seven days: whosoever hath killed any person, and whosoever hath touched any slain, purify both yourselves and your captives on the third day, and on the seventh day

So webster is biblically wrong about the soul. It is the physical being. It doesn't animate the body, the spirit does. The biblical soul is not a spirit! The bibilical soul is a person an persons are physical. If this isn't the soul, then the soul doesn't exist then!

The body is part of the person (biblical soul). The biblical soul (the person) is not part of the body!

THe dust was needed to make th soul.

the soul doesn't make the dust. The spirit animates it, but that isn't the soul. There are only two kinds of spirit. The Holy Spirit and the unclean spirit.

Yes - the idea that the soul survives after the body dies is a lie started back in Eden when Satan told Eve she wouldn't die if she ate the fruit.
When God breathed life into Adam, he BECAME a living soul

Did you know that the immortality of the soul is a teaching of Plato, not Jesus?

Why does the “New Catholic Encyclopedia” state that the word soul never means a soul as distinct from the body or the individual person.

“There is no dichotomy [division] of body and soul in the O[ld] T[estament]. The Israelite saw things concretely, in their totality, and thus he considered men as persons and not as composites. The term nepeÅ¡ [ne´phesh], though translated by our word soul, never means soul as distinct from the body or the individual person. . . . The term [psy•khe´] is the N[ew] T[estament] word corresponding with nepeÅ¡. It can mean the principle of life, life itself, or the living being.”—New Catholic Encyclopedia (1967), Vol. XIII, pp. 449, 450.

Please note “Immortality of the soul is a Greek notion formed in ancient mystery cults and elaborated by the philosopher Plato.” —Presbyterian Life, May 1, 1970, p. 35.

What was the original lie? (Gen 3:4) “You will not die.” if you disobey God.
The immortality of the soul concept says “You will not die if you disobey God.
Your immortal soul lives on someplace.”
