Unfortunately, you really can't NOT hurt his feelings. Turning someone down can be done in a lot of ways. "Our friendship is valuable to me and I don't want to ruin it." That's one I've used in the past and even though I'm not friends with him anymore, it worked at the time. Or if he's not a friend just "Ya know, I'm just not really looking at the moment. May be later." Or something along those lines. Good luck, my friend.

Talk about confusing. About two question ago you were not being noticed in school and no one seemed to care. They didn't even noticed you didn't go on a school trip. Now you're worried about your rep and how to tell a guy no? Here's a thought. Stop worrying about your rep (whatever it may be).

Just say no thankyou....in a polite way! If you go out with him, and he finds out that you dont really like him, it will hurt him anyway! As far as your rep.......um, why would your rep be ruined? Be true to you, dont worry about other peoples opinions.......

I would just say you don't really have time to date or do anything for that matter due to the fact of school or whatever busy thing you are doing right now.

"if"--?

WHEN he asks you out, don't forget to work a thank-you in your conversation with him

does not "ruining [your] rep" mean that you're nice to people?
include him in a group activity
maybe one of your other peeps and he will hook up

I would just say "No Thanks, and sorry"

Other than that... you really can't avoid hurting him

Unfortunately in life, you can't please everyone
