Why don't people seem to understand? Most servers make way less than minimum wage. I make $2.13 an hour at Hooters when i work there. Do people think we are just there to serve them food without them having to pay for it? Do you think i refill your drink 15 times because i like walking back and forth? Do you think i like cleaning up after all the mess your children made because you let them make it cause YOU don't have to clean it up? Do you think I like kissing your A** when you are rude to me or snap your fingers to get my attention? NO!!! No, we servers are here in restaurants to make money by doing a service for you. And how do you get a service? By paying for it. If you wanted someone to mow your lawn and trim your hedges.... don't you have to PAY them Yes....... When We servers provide good service for you and your family friends etc... we expect a good tip. Generally a good tip is 20%. A base tip is around 15%. Do you agree or disagree??? And WHY?

oh, an i have another job. i am an adm asst during the week. i am just trying to get my point across to people who don't tip. If you don't want to tip go to eat a a fast food restaurant or a place where there isn't a waiter waiting on you. You can eat a Lubys, they don't get tipped there.

On average I try to tip between 17-20%. If I feel the service was crappy, I will tip 12-15%.

Common people who were never in the service industry are assholes when they have an opportunity to have someone "wait" on them. No common decency.

Acceptable service gets 15%.
Great service gets 20% or a little more.
Outstanding service gets 25-30%.
Poor service gets enough to cover what the taxman estimates their wage to be on their service bill, and a chat with the manager.

I tip 20%, and you are being payed less than minimum wage... that sucks. I agree with 20%, it seems reasonable, and if you don't have free refills... I think that you should get your money for bringing over their 12 refills, good luck! Hope you can find a better job!

I generally tip the prevailing 20% unless there are some very unusual circumstances.

I think that if you expect a tip simply because you are working in the Service Industry-then you should not be in that line of work. I am under no obligation to suppliment your income.I will tip if the service is good and it is up to me if I tip 10,15 or 20 %. But,you picked this line of work and you are there to provide me with good service wether I tip or not.
