My husband is the main cook in our household, and he cooks from scratch all the time. I agree.....good ole home cooking is the best....you can't beat it.

I don't really knkow how to cook, but i am learning day by day. and to save time since i work 60 hours on a normal week i do use some short cuts.
My mother never really cooked either, so I reall yhad no one to learn from. I try to cook, and i even try to get out the cookbook and find recipes on there. I sometimes need some help. Sho has time to make a pot pie and the crust too?
sometimes i don't take the short cuts and you are right the food usually somes out better. But now a days when it costs so much to just live.... who has the time to cook when you are working 40-60 hours a week?

I cook a lot of things from scratch, mainly desserts but also some main dishes and veggies as well. I can definitely tell a difference in what is "canned" or "store bought" as opposed to something that is homemade! A world of difference between the 2 that is for sure!

The funny thing is, it is so easy to cook from scratch. You don't have to spend hours in the kitchen, all you need are fresh ingredients and easy recipes. My friends refer to me as a gourmet cook, which is a lot of rubbish, as I just find good easy recipes, and I CAN read!! You can cook from scratch and still cut corners. Are not those bagged greens wonderful, and with a homemade vinaigrette who cares. There are also too many wonderful bakeries to bake bread from scratch, which I used to do occasionally.

I always cook and bake from scratch and I always make a full meal everyday.
Meat, potatoes and vegetable. I also don't serve from the pots I put it all out in serving dishes.
When I was growing up the best part of the day was sitting at the table with my family.

Cookies and bread are like the only things we cook/bake from scratch at our house. It does taste better and there are a lot more cookies when I cook from scratch. I guess we are paying for convience when we don't cook from scratch.

I still do and i am going through chef training at my high school right now. I hope to become a chef and complete my training at The Culinary Institute of America or at Johnson and Wales but Culinary Institute of America is would be my first choice...The program is a 4 year hig school program and we learn how to utilize foods pure flavors w/e any canned or frozen foods. The recipes we make are amazing and taste like how grandma would have made it.

I cook from scratch unless I'm in a real hurry and then I will use a jar of sauce but never have frozen meals. I think this is why people are so obese nowadays.

I cook from scratch, too. I really enjoy it, though. Some people just can't stand being in the kitchen. Go figure! I'll cook for hours....

Amen to that! I don't get to do as much from scratch cooking as I'd like but on weekends I do. Most of my family is old school Italian *ie they'd beat you to death if you suggested using canned vegetables or spaghetti sauce from a jar*
