His breath will smell like that until he is finished teething, which should be very soon now..He is bringing in those last molars, and there is just no curing the puppy breath until they are grown in..
Any remedies, such as brushing or doggy breath mints are temporary.

Well there are some doggy breath mints on the market. I'm don't know much about them but you should check with the vet before you use them. But there are some bones that will clean his teeth and take care of some of the bad breath. Try brushing his teeth with a doggy toothbrush and toothpaste only no human toothpaste or toothbrushes.

I have dealt with this with my puppy. I adopted him, after which I found out that he had distemper as a really young pup (which almost killed him), but wore down the enamel on his teeth so much that he has lost (perma) a lot of his teeth at 8 months.

Anyway, because of the state of his teeth, he has rancid breath. Here are my suggestions:

1) Greenie bones/other doggie breath biscuits
2) Brush his teeth. You can buy beef/chicken flavored doggie toothpaste at petsmart.
3) You can also buy a dental breath spray for them that works really well.
4) If push comes to shove you can have your vet clean them (like I had my dog's cleaned). It is a little pricy. Cost me $65. They put the dog under to do it. But, believe me, his teeth will come out stunning, and his breath too.

Check his teeth, if they are full of plaque, you are feeding this dog a type of dog food that is too SOFT, it is not cleaning his teeth. If you are feeding him ONLY canned dog food, no wonder. He needs something to CHEW on .

Get him a 'dental bone' available at any pet store. ...and change his diet before his teeth rot and fall OUT. His teeth, at HIS age, should be sparkling white and clean all OVER.

If his teeth are clean already, change his dog food. Try ADULT dog food. If that doesn't work, take him to a vet, there may be some other underlying problems.

All you have to do is place it on the tounge. or there are products like Bonio fresh mint. I just Give mine one Bonio a day, that cleans off all the muck. Stick to just dryed food aswell, that works as a toothbrush. good luck
