My dog does what we call nascar. She will jump up onto the couch and start running around the entire room in a circle. She then jumps back onto the couch and does it again. Also she sticks her head into the couch cushions and barks. What is she doing when she does this?

Its prob shes having a mad 5 mins like all animals do. about her putting her head in th cusions, it prob reminds her of being with her mum suckling when she was a puppy. they do make strange noises when they go onto there mum as a puppy.

If it carries on it could be a behave prob. How old is she?

Around here we call that the "Beagle 500" , and yes some dogs think it is great fun.

The only time a person should get concerned about it is if the dog takes on the appearance of being in a trance. This is a sign of a disorder.

Some dogs do it to entertain themselves. Maybe try interacting with her more?? She has pent up energy.

My dog only sticks his head in the couch on the rare occasion he gets a pig ear and he tries to bury it in the cushions. He never barks though.

Sounds cute though.

I take my siberian husky for a walk 2 times a day. She had obedience training. She still has those fits of ripping around the house. I think it is just her way of getting rid of an excess of energy. She does it more when we haven't actually ran anywhere or she hasn't played with our other dog. She just likes to go full tilt!

very normal, I have a 9 month old lab, who does what we call "psycho rabbit." Tail down, ears back, and ON THE GO! work with the sit command, when Triton gets too wild I command sit and he stops. Still after 9 months it makes my family laugh.

not just normal, that dog is HAPPY. My little dogs do this and chase each other as well. Good exercise and mood lifter for the pup. you should play too.

It's her natural reaction to the term "Nascar"

My chihuahua does the exact same thing and I find it hilarious! To them it's a normal behavior.

Just playing..Getting her exercise, and pretending she is hunting.. Two of my dogs do the same..when weather is cold, they do it more often..I assume to get the blood flowing to get warmer..
